The third of 4 consecutive home matches, and possibly the most important, home to Arsenal. Having predicted a goal fest against Inter, with the result being a 0-0 draw, of course I predicted a 0-0 here and got a goal fest.

Pre Match food and drink

I took it easy this time as I’d been doing a lot of reviewing this week, and had eaten a hearty breakfast. So while I was hungry something more snack was in order. Just at the top of Piccadilly gardens, there’s an Indian vegetarian restaurant cum craft beer cafe called Bundobust. It hit the spot for me, beer and great Indian food.

 

 

 

Fried Indian snacks and beer, particularly ales really do go well together and makes for a great pre match snack. about £17.50 all together

Anyway on to the stadium

 

 

Quite a controversial match with Arsenal really scraping the bottom of the barrel with their dark arts. Serial time wasting, cynical challenges and another red card for kicking the ball away. Anyway Arsenal did defend very well with 10 men but John Stones came to the rescue with a scrappy equaliser in the 98th minute to make the game a 2-2 draw. The really bad thing to come out of this is a long term injury to Rodri, the most important player in City’s team. If he’s out all season I’d make Arsenal slight favourites now for the league.

While I was a tad disappointed with the day’s cask selection,£3.50 on Sundays for cask ales is not to be sneezed at. Sonoma pale by the Track brewery (local) 3.8% ABV

Post video food and drink

I had been invited to a dinner at San Carlo Cicchetti, one of my favourite City Centre Italian restaurants. I don’t tend to like chains but this is an exception and its not a massive multinational one (to the best of my knowledge) I won’t give you the price but on my way I popped into “The Salmon of Knowledge” bar in the northern quarter

 

The bar had just opened and I regret being only able to have 1 swift pint. A really good pint of Guinness really busy mainly with stout drinkers, with 3 other stouts available. And given it was Arthur Guinness’ birthday they were selling at £3 a pint.

I hope to pop in before the Watford game on Tuesday and try the other stouts.

San Carlo Cicchetti

Cicchetti is a Venetian term meaning small snacks or side dishes. I prefer this style of eating as it means more variety.

Here Tuna Tartare, Melanzane parmigiana, Lobster ravioli, lamb chops, steak, and lemon chicken with a side of peas.

 

And as luck has it, the famous Mulligan’s Irish pub is about 150m away, so what better way to round off the night.

 

A mighty fine pint, though on the pricey side.

And of course the day after, has to be a dry day, with smaller amounts of food, hard at work editing the match day vlog for my Youtube channel, posting Instagram reels, stories and photos, along with sending all you Muttonistas birthday and other greetings on cameo.com
